Portugese Guitarra

I bought this in an auction a few years back and really got into playing this alot. Built by custadio Cardoso Pereira, Lisboa and although I do not know the age I would guess and it seems to very very old.

I really fell in love witht he whole image of these instruments, the amazing scroll head and the fantastic old tuners are just so beautiful. The tuners are much better than the modern tuners but much more complicated to string and restring, but fantastic designs.

The fret board is made of rosewood and has these beautiful star fret positions and some beautiful pearl inlays around the sound hole.It seems to have a birch back and sides and has a very pleasing tone and richness to it. Although it cost about half the price of the modern one, I have to say that the tone is much more pleasing and sweeter to the ear.

I do wish I could play this better than I can, but it is a beautiful thing to play and I really enjoy this instrument alot.
