Andy Irvine Live video clips

Quite simply the best live performer I have seen to date. There is something about the atmosphere that Andy can create in his music, that is addictive. One minute the audience is laughing along with a song like ' The man that shot the dog', intranced by his wonderful Balkan tunes and the next minute, so quiet you could hear a pin drop for a song like 'The Highway Man '. It is an amazing acoustic experience.

These clips were taken during a concert in Galway, Ireland 2001. It was a fantastic night, and an experience that will stay with me for a very long time. I hope for the clips to improve in quality, as I get a bit more tech-minded. It is my first ever site so be patient, but if you ' save as target' you will get a bigger image. This tune was a request for Jane and he did a wonderful version. I love the Rain on the Roof version but there is something special to see him performe it live. A song about the good ol' days of traveling around Ireland in a red VW van, with Sweeney's men. This is sure to be one of those classic nostalgic Irish songs ! I just love the intro to this track, ..................................have a listen.

I never get tired of hearing this song. Andy brought this tune into Planxty and seems to have been playing it ever since. A real fiery tune, that has the most amazing instrumental ending of any tune ever. I have never been able to work out what he does with his fingers on this track , anyone know! I have only added the instrumental piece here,...............................enjoy !
