The F5 is a dream instrument for most mandolin players, as it was mine. I say 'was' as I really went through a fad of playing bluegrass and this was a must have. These days I play mostly Irish music and prefer the sweeter, mellower tone of the A style instrument. Infact havent really played this much since the little Gibson A came along, but when I get her out of the case it is very hard to put it back.

The style and design of this instrument is gorgeous, and with a sound to go with it. This is a powerful and loud instrument, with a crisp tone. These style of instruments are played mostly by bluegrass and jazz players for very obvious reasons. Its very fast attack, and crisp clear tone stand it up in line with any guitar player. Made famous by people like Bill Monroe and David Grisman.
