Gibson A style mandolin.
This one was made in 1915 and is in excellent condition. Spruce top and ebony fret board, tail piece, nut, scratch plate are all original. The bridge is a replacement for the 1920's , someone favoured the original one piece bridge for the adjustable two piece.
It has a wonderful woody tone and is extremely comfortable to play. It has a wider fret board than the Lyon and Healy, and has a little more bass response for Bluegrass tunes, but has a wonderful feeling on Celtic tunes also.
I like the basic 'A' as it is, less fancy than the A3 and A4 but with all of the tone. A great mandolin for that Old time sound.
