This
was pulled from a recent radio interview at ABC radio, if anyone has the full
radio interview and tracks I would love to hear from you. This track has not
been recorded yet.......enjoy !
This
tune appeared on a teaching cd a few years back, together with an acoustic version
of Brachia Hill. Here is a clip, go buy the CD ! it is worth the price just
for these two tracks alone. This is not on any of Andy Albums as yet !
This
is probably my all time favorite Balkan tune on the bouzouki. It was originally
on a Planxty album, check out the original. Here is a lovely version with Lunny,
wouldn't it be good to see these two record together again !
This
not a very good recording but the content is fabulous. A wonderful version,
and work great on the bouzouki. Nic Jones also does a great version of this
tune. Played here with Donal Lunny somewhere in Germany '79,
Don't
know the name of this one ! but it is played with Gerry O Beirne in Leiden '80.
Played
here on Dutch radio early '90's, together with Donal Lunny. A classic version,
this song has progressed so much from the original version. Andy does a fabulous
version of this solo live, Would love to see a new recording of it. Hold on
to your socks when the second bouzouki comes in !
Here
he plays two jigs Trip to Athlone and Munster buttermilk. This track is also
with Donal lunny around the early '90's.
This
originally appeared on a Folk Freaks album, difficult to get hold of ! The most
beautiful version of this song I have heard, and the bouzouki here is particular
sweet sounding. This does not sound like his big guitar shaped one, this has
a much sweeter and gentler tone. Enjoy !

The
Audio Files.
Andy Irvine seems to be constantly on tour, either
Solo, or as Patrick Street, Planxty, or Mosaic. Sadly, I have found it extremely
difficult to see him in concert over the past ten years, as most of my journeys
seem to be in Asia, meaning we are usually at different ends of the earth.
I have seen him play a few times, both Solo and with Patrick street and I
would recommend anyone to see one of his concerts. An amazing experience for
sure !
So, it has become interesting for me to find live recordings, and radio
recordings of him to make this distance, in some way, smaller. It is exciting
for me to see how songs have progressed over the years, and for those nights
when Andy shares a new tune, or an old classic. Even Andy's instruments have
changed somewhat over the years, so there is even a progression of sound.
If you have any old recordings either private or radio, I would love to hear
from you. I would love for my collection to grow and to patch together some
of his amazing adventure.
I hope the quality and length of the clips to improve
in time, but for now enjoy them for what they are.
If
you have a live recording, either private or radio, of Andy Irvine, I would
love to hear from you.
