Peter Abnet Irish Bouzouki

The Abnet bouzouki has long been called the ' Original Irish Bouzouki ' and there is no other Irish Bouzouki on Earth that sounds this good
This instrument was custom built by Peter Abnet in 2001 and is a dished back model. This helps to produce a very big sound, from a rather small body, making it very comfortable to play. It is spruce top, indian rosewood back and sides, and a flat ebony fret board. The intonation on this instrument is superb! The tail piece is made to take ball end or loop end strings and supports a jack to a pick up in the body. The Abnet has a very, very distinct sound, producing a wonderful thin, crisp tone and quite simliar in tone to the greek instrument, making it pefect for chords and melody.
The dimension of this instrument were closely based on Donal Lunny's instrument. Donal Lunny has been playing Abnet bouzoukis for more than 40 years now and it is the sound on all those Bothy Band, Planxty, coolfin, and many Christy moore albums that we love.

As you can see from the phot above, the body is much smaller and the neck dimentions more narrow than a Sobell, and the over all appearance is very elegant. The 'horned' head is a stand to all Peter's instruments, but again on this instrument the design and inlay were custom built.
In my opinion, the Abnet Bouzouki stands head and shoulders above other bouzouki's I have owned and played and remains my favourite instrument !
